STEREOSPERMUM EUPHOROIDES
TAMARINDUS INDICA

Melliferous tree with small leaflets narrowly oblong. Fruits are found in pod in sausage-shaped, up to 10 to 18 cm long and sometimes slightly curved with rusty-brown colour. The seeds are embedded in a sticky and edible pulp. The fruit pulp is an essential ingredient in indian cuisine (curries & chutneys) and also know for its medicinal value for centuries. It is also used to brighten silver, copper and brass when mixed with salt. The dark brown wood is very hard and tough and recommanded for boat-building.
